Lodging

Maya Mountain Lodge's fourteen cottages and rooms are decorated with regional arts and crafts, and have hot water, electricity, and fan. For those who wish to relax, we have hammocks overlooking beautiful tropical gardens teeming with exotic wildlife. First class rustic thatch and colonial tile-roofed cottages are available and, for budget-minded travelers, we have hotel rooms in our bush house, the "Parrot's Perch". A group facility and conference center is available for retreats, training seminars, or family reunions.

Owned and operated by the Mickler family
, Maya Mountain Lodge is located in Belize's Cayo District with access to many days of exploring and adventure. Nestled against a private jungle reserve, yet at the edge of the small town of San Ignacio, Cayo, Maya Mountain is located conveniently for both cultural and natural history investigation.

Our friendly Belizean resort staff will be glad to orient you to the Cayo area and to chat with you about our country and the Belizean people. Our guests invariably say that our staff are our greatest asset.

Swimming Pool

After a day of adventure and exploration, one can join fellow travelers for a swim in our swimming pool.

Dining Room
Delicious family style meals include tropical desserts, fresh fruits, and vegetables. The menu includes international as well as Belizean and Spanish dishes. Special dietary needs can be accommodated.

Trails
Natural History is a feature of this interior Cayo region. Set in a subtropical moist forest life zone, the Maya Mountain Lodge interpretive trails exhibit a rich diversity of tropical life. A self-guided tour book, written by biologist, Bruce Miller highlights and explains the plants, Mayan ruins, and natural history features along the trails and  gardens which surround our cottages. These gardens include over a hundred varieties of tropical edible and ornamental plants. See our Workshops page for more Belize natural history information.

Activities
At Maya Mountain Lodge, a range of activities are available to you including van tours to Belize sites such as Mayan ruins, Belize National Parks, and cultural destinations. We also offer "soft" adventure expeditions in Cayo by horseback, hiking, rafting, canoeing, and 4x4 vehicles. See Activities
